Anointing of the Sick

Pastoral care of the sick and dying is a very important part of our parish ministry. Any parish member can receive the sacrament if his or her health is marked by a serious illness, surgery, or aging; it is best received during the early stages of illness.  It is wrong to delay the sacrament until a person is actively dying.

Anointing of the Sick can be repeated whenever a person again falls into serious sickness or whenever a more serious crisis develops during the same sickness. A Communal Anointing is celebrated annually at St. Peters and for Washington County at Little Lourdes Day in West Bend each year. Residents of the Scenic View Apartments/Slinger Housing Authority, Cedar Community and Autum Oaks Senior Living (where Mass is offered monthly and Holy Communion weekly) are anointed three times annually. Those to be hospitalized are encouraged to be anointed and receive Holy Communion (a good confession too, if needed) prior to admission. In order to arrange anointing for yourself or for a loved one though St. Peter, please call Fr. Stoffel.
